When we are going to present our work, especially if it is a visual brand project, it is very helpful to use mockups in order to show the client how the brand works in real places and get a more accurate idea of the impact it will cause once it is launched to the street. On internet we can find a lot of exclusive websites about this kind of content and I would like to share with you the ones that I think are most important and which I visit when I need to find a mockup that fits the purpose of the brand.
Depending on the market in which we are working we should look for mockups fit to their activity, such as restaurant menus, clothing labeling or T-shirts for a boutique, etc…
The best sites to download mockups
Mockupword
Here we find all kinds of mockups, although very focused on Apple devices, but also offers categories depending on the market we are working in, such as fashion, food and billboards. A very prominent section are the animated mockups that come in handy to create a greater impact on the customer. There are free ones and there are also paid ones for a very affordable price that in some cases could be interesting to buy in order to ensure a good impression on the customer after our presentation.
Graphic Burguer
On this website we find a catalog of mockups somewhat reduced, but very varied, from simple cards, through a bottle, or a van. The drawback is that they are not sorted by categories, but they do have a search field to filter the results.
They also offer the possibility of accessing other types of content, such as icons, typographic effects and textures to use in graphic projects we are working on.
Pixeden
Pixeden is a webiste which offers graphic and web design resources in premium format (only 6$ per month) and free. In their graphic design section they have a wide catalog of varied mockups. Its navigation and the way of presenting the information makes it a comfortable and easy website to find what we need.
Mockups Design
Little amount but high quality, is how we can describe this site that offers simple mockups in terms of diversity, the typical cards, flyers, books, bottles, boxes, etc …, but of great quality. Also very well organized. Generally of each mockup we find several files to use the one we like, from different perspectives.
Unblast
Here we find a large number of Mockups of many topics. Perhaps I am missing a navigation between categories with more options to avoid having to navigate between hundreds of pages looking for what we need. From what I’ve seen so far, they offer different mockups to other websites, it is very common to find among this type of websites mockups repeated in one and another site, but here we find many new content.
They also offer downloadable content in areas such as typography, 3D models, templates of all kinds (websites, flyers, apps, etc …) or icons that never hurts to take a look.
Free PSD Templates
A good selection of Mockups, although its navigation makes it difficult to find what we are looking for, they organize everything under a single category, although if you access any of them you can filter the search by tags, but it is a somewhat hidden option. If they had it more accessible it would speed up the navigation. Another handicap that we find, as their own domain says, is that they only offer files in PSD format.
Create your own Mockups
Another option is to create the mockups ourselves, if we are developing a project for a local business it will have more impact to show them the work on a real and accessible advertising space, which they go through daily. Here I leave you a video of Marco creativo, a very recognized graphic design Youtuber that I recommend you to follow, as he uploads very interesting videos about graphic design periodically, in which he explains in detail how to create mockups from a photograph.
