When we work on a graphic project, whether in the design of a brochure, a motion graphics or a large format ad for a billboard, it is normal that we make use of textures to give personality and character to the piece we are working on. That’s why I want to make a list that I will update over time with the most important texture banks on internet, most of them free. Some of them are focused on 3D projects, so we can see the same texture with different treatments to create relief maps, normal, specular, etc…
Textures – www.textures.com
This texture store has been recently updated, focused on PBR materials for 3D projects. They offer you 15 credits per day to redeem among a great amount of textures, very well catalogued. However, if you are not a Premium user you can’t access to 4K quality textures. It is a good resource to use them in web projects, small format ads like a brochure, or a banner for the web, and test the textures in web projects to visualize the result and if we are convinced proceed to purchase them.
Textureking – www.textureking.com
Here you can download textures in maximum quality without restrictions. It does not have a catalog as extensive as the previous option, but it is very well organized. They do not offer optimized textures for use in PBR materials, but it is a good option if you are looking for textures without too many pretensions.
Texturelib – www.texturelib.com
The structure of this website is similar to the first option, very well organized, which simplifies the work of finding the texture we are looking for, but does not have the option to download textures for PBR materials. The advantage is that we have available all the textures in maximum quality, but we can only download 10 per day.
3dxo – www.3dxo.com
3dxo offers us few textures, but of good quality and very well organized, with a search field in case we need to restrict the results that are shown to us.
Textuify – texturify.com
Here we can find both free and paid resources. The quality of the textures is maximum (4k) and it will be quite easy to find the one we are looking for because of its organization and search field to refine the results they show us. As a curiosity, they have a section dedicated to HDRI maps of skies in different environments very useful for 3D renders. In another post we will make a list dedicated to HDRI maps that we can find on the internet.
Texturez – texturez.com
A fairly simple to navigate website where you can find quality free textures, very well organized. They provide several methods to keep the web active, either by donations or by spreading the website through links.
Wildtextures – www.wildtextures.com
Here we have little variety and no organization, but the textures offered are of very good quality.
Texture Ninja – texture.ninja
On this website you have access to a large collection of free textures to download with CC0 license (At the time of writing these lines have more than 5,000). I have not had the chance to try them, but they look good. Some very particular categories like fingerprints or tree leaves.
As always, if you know of any other interesting texture resource, let us know in the comments so we can add it to the list. I hope it will be helpful.
